If you thought I couldn’t come up with any more recipes… ta-da!
I mean, come on, there are tons of dried fruits out there – my goal is to come up with a new recipe for each and every one!
Tart cherries are actually being shown in studies to help with many things:
Arthritis and other joint pain. Tart cherries have the anthocyanins, a powerful antioxidant that helps to significantly reduce internal damaging inflammation.
Exercise-induced muscle damage. Studies are showing that drinking concentrated tart cherry juice may reduce the loss of strength as well as reduce pain after intense exercise.
Sleep. “When consumed regularly, tart cherries may help regulate the body’s natural sleep cycle and increase sleep efficiency, including decreasing the time it takes to fall asleep.” – Dr Russel Reiter from the University of Texas Health Science Center.
I say Heck Yes to that! And even if more studies are needed, cherries are a great addition to the diet (look for dried cherries with no sugar added).
