Zesty Brussels Sprouts with Raisins

by ADMIN on JANUARY 3, 2013

Brussels sprouts are completely underrated. And I’m a little obsessed.

When you cut them into thin stripes they cook faster and taste less… potent… in your mouth.

Plus adding raisins and orange zest takes away some of the bitterness as well! (But the primary way to ensure Brussels Sprouts remain bitterless is to cook them just enough; not too much and not too little. No pressure. Zesty Brussels Sprouts with Raisins Prep time: 10 mins Cook time: 10 mins Total time: 20 mins Serves: 2-4 Ingredients

  • 1-1.3 pounds Brussels sprouts, outer leaves removed, stem cut off, sliced into strips

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • ⅓ cup raisins, soaked in warm water then drained

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • ½ tsp dried ginger

  • zest of 1 orange

  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

  • 2 tsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame and olive oil over medium high heat, add garlic and let cook for about 2 minutes.

  2. Add Brussels sprouts, salt, pepper and ginger and let saute, stirring often, for about 5 minutes.
