Seared Falafel with Yogurt Sauce

by ADMIN on APRIL 17, 2012

Ah falafel. Delicous. Moist.

A wonderful alternative to the burger.

These fluffy chickpea patties taste great with crispy Roasted Kale and a homemade potato bun (recipe coming soon!).

Oh – and the Yogurt Sauce with lemon and honey.

Which I just so happened to finish straight from the bowl. Using my finger as a utensil.

It was a good dinner

  • 1 egg

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • ¼ cup chopped onion

  • ¼ cup whole wheat bread crumbs

  • 2 tsp olive oil

  • 1.5 tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ⅛ tsp cayenne

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • YOGURT SAUCE:

  • 6 oz plain Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, blend together all ingredients for the patties.

  2. Shape chick pea mixture into 6-8 patties (depending on how big you make them).

  3. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large saute pan. Cook patties until they are golden, about 4-5 minutes each side.

  4. In a small bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon, garlic, and honey. Whisk.

  5. Serve on a bun (or not!) with the sauce (also optional!) and some veggies!

Enjoy!
